States of Mind I:The Farewells (1911) is the first in a series of three oil paintings by the Italian Futurist painter Umberto Boccioni (1882–1916) which are all in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The space is composed of swirling and dynamic movements of lines, stylized by the smoke and steam emitted by the train.
