Description
Michigan Boulevard in Chicago in the 1920s – digital painting made from an old postacard where I made some small edits and I added painting texture. In the image can be seen the Wrigley Building and the Tribune Tower. Michigan Avenue, originally running alongside Lake Michigan, shifted eastward due to Grant Park's land reclamation. Legal battles with Aaron Montgomery Ward influenced the one-sided street to preserve lakefront views. Named Michigan Boulevard pre-Great Chicago Fire, it evolved architecturally, with intersections transforming its landscape. Widened between 1909 and 1910, it featured the Art Institute of Chicago Building, moving lions guarding its entrance. Today, four streets cross Michigan Avenue, two changing names as they cross.
